Memorial Day Weekend in NYC

Friday, June 03, 2016

Hey friends,
I just got back from spending the long Memorial Day weekend visiting one of my best friends in New York City! I thought I would sum up the best parts of my trip and show you all the fun-filled places I was able to experience while in the “Big Apple.”

DAY 1:
First thing you should know is that the morning of our flight, I awoke to what I think was food poisoning! Reluctantly, I had decided to go and after what felt like the longest plane ride, we ARRIVED!  Taking it easy that afternoon, I thought I would try to venture out for dinner but that ended in complete disaster…(no explanation needed)! So back to bed...

DAY 2:

By some miracle I woke up the next morning feeling perfect and could actually venture out to explore the city! First we started with a stroll through Central Park.

After working up an appetite, we headed to Chelsea to check out Grey Dog. This cute little shop had an amazing lunch menu, some of which was modeled after a sandwich selection from Ann Arbor, MI!

We then ventured over to The High Line. This is defiantly one of the coolest parts of NYC. It’s a public park that is built on an old freight rail line elevated above the streets...and fortunately we did NOT see any nude sunbathers!

By late afternoon, it was time for happy hour! We took The High Line over to visit Gallow Green. This was the most beautiful rooftop bar I have ever seen. It was like walking through a magical garden. Although the cocktails were pretty expensive, the atmosphere alone was well worth it!

DAY 3:

We started the day with bottomless brunch at Agave! For $30, we got brunch along with all you can drink mimosas, margaritas, or wine! How can you beat a deal like that?! The food was delicious and the drinks were going down smooth.

We decided to keep the fun going and visited The Happiest Hour. This retro/whimsical cocktail bar did not disappoint. Our bartender was a local comedian, so the laughs were endless! I had a drink called The Pineapple Express filled with pineapple, sage, honey, lime and Guatemalan rum! YUMMMMMMM!

DAY 4:

We ended our trip with a quick stop to the Chelsea Market for a little ice cream before we took off for home. This trip was filled with so much laughter and fun I couldn't have asked for a better time in NYC!
